What is IPTV and how does it work?

Updated 2026-10-31 · 1 min read

IPTV stands for Internet Protocol Television. Instead of receiving TV through an aerial, a satellite dish or a cable box, you receive it through your normal internet connection, the same way you watch a video online.

How IPTV works

A provider collects live channels and a library of movies and series and sends them to your home as a stream. An app on your TV, phone or streaming stick opens the stream and plays it. Because everything travels over the internet, the same account can follow you to a different device without any new wiring.

What you need

What you see on screen

Most apps show live channels in a list with a TV guide, plus a section for movies and a section for series. You pick what you want, and it starts within a few seconds.

What makes one service different from another

Reliability, the choice of channels and titles, how quickly problems are fixed and whether you can test before you pay. That last point matters most, which is why we start every customer with a free 1-day trial: you see it working on your own TV first.

FAQ

Is IPTV the same as Netflix?

Not exactly. Netflix is an on-demand library. IPTV adds live channels, so you can watch events as they happen, together with movies and series on demand.

Do I need a special box?

No. Many TVs, Fire Sticks, Android boxes, iPhones and iPads can run a player app. Message us on WhatsApp with your device and we tell you the app to use.

Does it replace my broadband?

No. IPTV uses the broadband you already have. It does not need a separate line or a dish.
